Former Abbot (1st Khensur) Geshe Tsultrim Gyatso la,
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama with JCI Abbot (1st Khensur) GesheTsultrim Gyatso la,

Former Abbot (1st Khensur) Geshe Tsultrim Gyatso la,

Our gratitude towards our beloved late Abbot Khensur GesheTsultrim Gyatso la,

GesheTsultrim Gyatso la, the first abbot of Jamyang Choling Nunnery, was born in 1937 in a village of Ba, Gorong in Eastern Tibet Kham to a father Choedrak Jatsho and a mother Tenzin Drolma.

At a very young age he entered the monastery of Gorong Samdrup Thubten Nyisharling to pursue monastic education. Gradually, he moved to the Central Tibet of Lhasa and entered the second Nalanda Institute of DrepungLoselling monastery and graduated his monastic studies pursuing GesheLharampa degree among the many learned ones.

In 1994, he came to Jamyang Choling Institute of Buddhist Dialectic for Women as a Philosophy teacher until 2005. Then on September 12, 2005, as agreed by the community of an institute, we requested His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama through the Religious Affair, in need of appointing an abbot and Director of the nunnery. Upon our request, HH the Dalai Lama advised the Religious Affair and accordingly, Geshe Tshultrim Gyatso was appointed an Abbot and Director of Jamyang Choling Institute and served the term for 14 years totaling to 24 years of service with hardship and experience, care and nurturing with immense love and dedication like the father caring for the dearest daughters advising, showing the path and enlightening us towards the final achievement. We as a student take this precious advice very sincerely and importantly to the heart and aspire to adapt our master as an example and follow his footsteps life after life.

When our late abbot Geshe Tshultrim Gyatso was appointed as a discipline master of a Lower Tantric College in 1994 and later in 2004 travelled many times as a group leader to United States of America, Taiwan and Singapore through Drepung Loselling Monastery, he acquired the famous name of Geshe Jangchub Sempa (Geshe Bodhisattva) due to his extreme compassion and love towards each and every being. On the night of the 29th of the 12th lunar month, which is on 14 Feb 2018, our abbot suddenly showed the sign of passing into Parinirvana with his final meditation for five full days in Drepung Loseling Monastery, South India.

At 10am in the morning of the 3rd day of the 1st lunar month, he came out of his meditation and the next day at 8am when he was cremated, for the sake of accumulating the merits of the followers he manifested many kinds of auspicious relics.

In aspiration to his deeds in brief:
The deeds after entering the dharma
And even after the end of the last life
If any holy wishes exist without completion
May it be perfected as you aspire.

Composed by the office of Jamyang Choling Institute in memory of our gratitude towards our beloved late Abbot Geshe Tshultrim Gyatso.
